Why I Do This Work
I'm Tim Vojta, LPC—and I believe our best mental health includes our psychology AND our physiology.
I became a therapist because I was frustrated with my own experience in therapy. I hoped to find a way to help those who had experienced the same.
I left a 20-year business consulting career to become a therapist, determined to focus on interventions that produced measurable, durable results. I discovered Brainspotting first, which worked well for many clients. At the same time, I kept encountering clients who struggled to meaningfully engage—not just with Brainspotting, but with traditional therapeutic approaches in general. I kept thinking: there must be something missing for these clients, but what?
Then I got lucky. A colleague at a Brainspotting training introduced me to the concept of Neurofeedback, and everything clicked. Here was a way to work directly with the brain's electrical patterns, reaching people who needed a different kind of intervention.
I was even more thrilled to discover I could practice this under my counseling license. I've never looked back. Five years later and extensive training (more than 100 hours), it is my primary focus. I still do talk therapy from time to time, it pairs wonderfully with Neurofeedback, Biofeedback and Photobiomodulation. The work I do often unlocks the door for many clients to return to a talk therapist, or a personal coach, and be able to meaningfully benefit from the experience.
These days I specialize in QEEG Brain Mapping, Neurofeedback and Biofeedback training, and Photobiomodulation (a form of red-light therapy). My clients are often (but not always) people whose lives have become unmanageable—individuals who want precision, measurable change, and real understanding of what's actually happening in their brain when everything feels broken.
When I'm not mapping brains, I'm training with macebells and kettlebells, playing pickleball, and spending time with my lovely wife and our two cats.
